About

Helen and Paul Campbell are comfortably successful residents of Seattle, working as a school teacher and in local government. One night, intruders alter their lives completely. Their bodies are ‘borrowed’ and they wake to find their minds housed in very alien forms. They soon find that they are vegetarians in the bodies of carnivores; pacifists serving as officers in an alien army. The only hope for them to recapture their old lives is to go to the world of Lehrenarh and travel to the city of Naugail. This novel follows the journey of the hapless couple as they struggle to survive on a very different world fighting against raids and in ever growing battles; facing the risks of being drawn into political intrigues and religious conflict. Can Helen and Paul survive, maintain their humanity in such a brutal setting and recover their former existence?

In ‘Crimson Bodies of Naugail’, the author has created a fantasy story that avoids many of the usual elements of the genre. On Lehrenarh, humans are a fifth-class species dominated and suppressed by the warlike usteyan race; rubbing shoulders with the stocky kelses and the effete scaines. The Campbells adventure in a richly drawn world with its own religions and cultures; a place plagued by climate change and warfare, where knowledge from Earth can aid but also mislead.
