Alun is the scriptwriter of a highly successful TV soap opera called Jonquil’s Journals, set in 18th century London, who suddenly wants to be rid of his wife, Dilys - but why? Could it be due to the attractive new assistant, Leini, that his show’s producer has just hired? And, if so, why is he using the programmes’ Georgian era storylines and characters to mirror his wife’s demise? Surely, when a local farmer becomes romantically interested in her it would work for all of them… so why will she still not divorce Alun? Could the boxes of files in the loft - which some dodgy blokes hanging around their Welsh home seem so aware of - be a clue to this and the shady death of her former corrupt husband? As the story unfolds and the body count mounts, the script’s fictitious period characters and real-life events become inextricably mixed… and when Leini abruptly disappears, everything becomes a tense personal international thriller for Alun as he is torn from Wales and London - and on the run from South American drug-dealers… So how will he – or anyone else, real or fictitious - end up… and dead or alive?
