Daxton and Charlotte, spoiled 'wealthies', wonder how long it will be before the violence in the outside world comes crashing into their deceptively peaceful enclave of Arroyo Del Mar. Can they convince some college friends to stowaway with them on the last colony ship to Terra? They long for the new and unspoiled world named Terra Shalom by the colonists headed there.

Craig and Lon don't want to go, they're in it for the challenge to their hacking skills. When Craig gets arrested for an old minor heist, poorly covered up, Lon is suspected of complicity. Their future prospects ruined, they decide to flee by joining their friends.
