The Stonewall Reader, published to commemorate this milestone, draws from the New York Public Library's archives. It includes first accounts, diaries, and literature from LGBTQ publications that document the years leading up to and following the riots. The anthology highlights key activists like Sylvia Rivera and lesser-known figures such as Ernestine Eckstein, emphasizing the critical period of 1969, and the five years before and after. Edited and introduced by Jason Baumann, the book aligns with an NYPL exhibition on the same theme.
