About
What does a typical writing day look like for you? When I do get on my computer to write, I will make sure I have snacks, always have something to drink, and I will choose what music I want to write to. The music I choose will usually depend on the book I am working on. How do you deal with writer's block? I know this is going to sounds crazy, but I deal with writers block, by going into a Roleplaying Game that I play with my husband. When I need a break from the real world and my writing, I go play in a pretend world, and I destress and forget about everything that is bothering me. What was the biggest challenge you faced while writing a book? Trying to work on one book at a time; At any given time, I usually have several started at once, and I do this because while I am writing one book, I am sitting there thinking of how I could write another book about something totally different than the one I am currently working on, as a matter of fact, I right now have 6 books that I am working on. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer? While I was in high school; I had an English teacher, Mr. Torres, God Rest his soul, anyhow, he always made me feel comfortable about writing, he was the one who first told me that I had a talent for writing. His words have always stuck with me, and his words are what has kept me going with writing. What was your path to publication? My path to publication started while I was in high school, even after I had quit school, I kept writing, after I went to college, I joined the military, and I used writing to keep me focused on what I was having to do while in the military. In fact the first book I published "Legally in Love" was wrote while I was in Basic Training and my Advanced Individual Training. When I came home I typed up what I had wrote, and sent it in to be published. Now here we are 15 books later, and I am still writing more. What advice would you give to aspiring authors in your genre? Be true to yourself, never let anyone tell you that your not good enough. Write about what you know, write about the things that bring you pleasure in writing about. What do you do when you're not writing? Visit with friends, family, help my parents out, play Roleplaying games with my husband, play with my animals, and spend time with my grandkids. What are your plans for future projects? Well like I said earlier, I have 6 books that I am working on, and I don't plan on stopping there. I will write till the day I die, I just hope I don't leave any unfinished. If I do, I will leave all of my writings to my oldest grandchild. And I will watch over her and help guide her hand to finish them. Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with negative or positive feedback? I do read my book reviews. I deal with the negative feedback by asking them what it was that they didn't like, and what they would do to improve it. As for the positive feedback, I thank them for the review, and ask them what they specifically liked about a book or scene or character, so I can continue to make my fans happy.
