Graphic designer Belle has dreams of illustrating a children's book, but her life is only a rough sketch of what she wants it to be. The man she's been dating is more Scrooge than sweetheart, her boss is a taskmaster, and she needs a new place to live. When she returns home for the holidays and meets the handsome handyman next door, she questions the choices she's made.

Widower Deck Thomas has his hands full. The firefighter is helping his sister and niece while launching a side hustle in home renovation. His neighbor's daughter is lighting a fire in his heart, but he's been burned before and isn't in the market for a second chance.

When a family crisis throws Belle into the kitchen, she's tasked with baking dozens of cookies for the holiday program while Deck installs flooring in the next room. They meet up again and again—but Belle is off limits. Not only is her mother a client, but Belle may not be over her undeserving beau.
