Janelle Lynn Mayo

Hi, I’m Janelle Lynn Mayo. I’m currently working on the second draft of my debut light novel, a gothic romantic fantasy.

I’ve been writing since elementary school, but the seed for this story first came to me in high school. Back then, I was playing The Sims 2 and became fascinated by the alien lore, an idea that stuck with me for years, even though I didn’t yet know how to use it. Later, an anime series called Bleach helped me develop my world and characters further. Over the past year, I got serious, finished the first draft, and the second draft just recently.

The story follows Lia, a twenty-two-year-old who is diagnosed with terminal cancer and given only one month to live. She discovers hope and love in the most unexpected form: a mysterious alien from another world who offers her a cure—on the condition that she returns with him to his planet.

Outside of writing, I practice kendo (I hold my sho-dan), snowboard in the winter (CASI 1 certified), and love diving into games like Baldur’s Gate 3, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts. I’m also studying Japanese with the dream of translating my own novel someday.
