Third Age Recovered Texts

History, they say, is written by the victors. For three centuries, the official historians taught in every temple; they told the same story: the Nyx were dangerous sorcerers who sought to tear reality apart for their own power. The Sundering War was a righteous crusade that saved the world from magical catastrophe. The Orders that arose from the return of such dark powers.

These myths are lies.

The truth, preserved in fragments and whispers, hidden in bloodlines thought extinct and knowledge deemed too dangerous to survive, tells a tale entirely different from the one commonly told. The Nyx were guardians, not destroyers. The Sundering War was a tragedy born of fear and misunderstanding. And the barriers that the victors claimed to strengthen were, in fact, the very protection the Nyx died trying to maintain.

Now, as those barriers weaken and ancient hungers stir in the spaces between worlds, the descendants of the defeated guardians are awakening to powers they don't understand and a responsibility they never chose.

This is the account of Kael and Zara Ashworth–siblings, survivors, and the last inheritors of a bloodline that once stood between their world and oblivion. Their story begins in the industrial city of Ironhaven, where magic is forbidden and the Order of the Sealed Veil hunts those who dare to wield it.

It begins with awakening. It ends with a choice that will determine the fate of reality itself. The official historians call them monsters. The truth, as always, lies somewhere deeper than either would admit.

What follows is that truth, recorded not by scholars or prophets, but by those who lived it. Those who discovered that sometimes the greatest power comes not from what you can control, but from what you're willing to sacrifice.

The barriers are failing. The Hunger stirs. And in the shadows of a world that has forgotten its true protectors, the Nyx bloodline awakens once more.

May the light preserve us all.
