Douglas Stuart is a Scottish-American writer born in Glasgow, Scotland. He is the author of the novels 'Young Mungo' and 'Shuggie Bain.' His debut novel, 'Shuggie Bain,' won the 2020 Booker Prize, the Book of The Year at the British Book Awards, and The Sue Kaufman Prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. It was a finalist for several other awards including the National Book Award for Fiction and The Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. 'Young Mungo' became a Sunday Times #1 Bestseller. Stuart's work, including short stories such as 'Found Wanting' and 'The Englishman,' has been published in The New Yorker magazine and translated into 39 languages. He has also written essays on topics like gender, anxiety, and poverty. A graduate of The Royal College of Art, Stuart has lived and worked in New York City since 2000 and spent over two decades as a fashion designer before becoming a full-time author.
