Vanna’s not ready for winter . . . or love.

Winter comes early in Idaho, and Vanna can't wait to get back to California. Meanwhile, she's been cleaning rental houses and helping her mother recover from a serious illness. Tonight, she’s driving through a snowstorm, anxious to get her mother home from the hospital.

Vanna suffers with PTSD after witnessing the death of her father in a mall shooting when she was a teenager. She’s been symptom free for years. Until tonight.

Jesse is a former Marine and marksman. As a result of a black powder accident in a historical reenactment, his face was scarred and his eyesight damaged. He shouldn’t be driving in a blinding snowstorm, and when he runs an oncoming car off the road, he goes to help.

Vanna doesn’t want his help. She doesn’t trust him, and when she discovers a rifle in the back seat of his pickup, she panics.

Their near collision throws them together, and an unlikely relationship develops. Vanna has no intention of falling in love. She plans to return to her job as a flight attendant after Christmas. Jesse needs emergency surgery and may lose his eyesight. Whatever happens, Jesse can’t tell Vanna what he did in the Marine Corps.
