The Nursemaid and the Nonesuch
She saved a stranger with no memory—will his past bring her ruin or love?
About
He forgot who he is but she will remind him how love feels.
Matilda Ashcroft's polite manners and beauty make the fact that she was never married a mystery! Inexplicably, she chose not to experience the joys of a Season and retired to the countryside to be a governess. There, the sobriquet "The Nursemaid" was bestowed upon her by the more spiteful members of the local society…
The reason must have been one of the countless times she stopped to offer assistance to a poor little street urchin that everyone else was passing by. Her affectionate actions make an even bigger impression on people as everyone knows that Matilda's father, the great Lord Ashcroft, could have snapped his fingers and offered his daughter any number of eligible suitors.
Yet, the girl had never been close to a man until a stranger had a terrible accident falling off his horse next to Matilda's home. Everyone insisted that the man must be taken to a poorhouse to be nursed back to health, but Matilda didn't budge. The girl stayed on the stranger's bedside until he regained consciousness... only to find out that he had lost his memory!
Unfortunately, Matilda loses her position as a governess because of her obsession to help the man, and, without a home or a husband to support her, the girl is hopeless. After learning the news, the towering man wants to help his savior angel, but he can not even remember his name. Now, should Matilda try to discover the true identity of the stranger, or should she finally stop risking for others and start caring for herself a bit?
