In the dystopian nation of Panem, the Capitol controls its twelve districts through the Hunger Games, a brutal annual event where young tributes fight to the death. Katniss Everdeen, a girl from the impoverished District 12, volunteers to take her sister's place in the Games. Thrust into a deadly arena on live TV, she must rely on her wits and archery skills to survive in a grand battle royale. Trust means nothing in an arena where it’s kill or be killed. However, Katniss soon realizes that an alliance with her counterpart from District 12 might be the only thing that can keep her alive. 

But the Capitol won’t forgive defiance, no matter what.
