Mama mia, here we go again! Welcome to another fun ACOTAR article, where we take apart our beloved series and discuss all the details we loved. Taking it one step further, today we will be guessing which zodiac sign matches each of the characters. Isn’t it fun to give fictional characters human traits, bringing them closer to our modern, 21st-century world? Like Rhysand would ever care whether Scorpios and a Sagittariuses are a compatible match—they are.
In case you are interested in knowing more about the characters—some real stuff—visit our ACOTAR characters blog post.
Here’s a small list with the characters and the zodiac sign we speculate to fit them:
So, after this brief introduction, let’s get into it in detail. Be warned, though, this article is not spoiler-free. If you are new to the Maasverse, then start off by reading the ACOTAR summary.
The strongest High Lord to ever exist in Prythian’s history, Rhysand is a Scorpio. Sarah J Maas has confirmed that Rhys shares his birthday with her husband—on the 20th of November. Between us, dear reader, this self-sacrificial Lord could not be anything less than a Scorpio. Fifty years in Amarantha’s bed, manipulating her mind to keep Velaris hidden and safe, was not a small price to pay to spare his friends. The High Lord of the Night Court is mysterious, secretive, and cunning, always a step ahead of his enemies. Not to mention, he is a passionate lover… For reference, check chapter 55 in ACOMAF, *wink*.
Feyre Archeron, Rhys’ mate and the first-ever High Lady of Prythian—Aelin Galathynius from Throne of Glass is weeping at this—is a Sagittarius. Duh, she is a skillful archer! Sure enough, her birthday is on the 21st of December, on the Winter Solstice. She is a risk-taker with a brave heart and an adventurous spirit. Very fitting sign for our thrill-seeker, High Lady of the Night Court.
A Scorpio man and a Sagittarius woman is a pretty good match—points for Sarah! They communicate freely, and they know how to get intimate… The chemistry between them is magical; sensational, fun, and dynamic. A Scorpio will fall head over hills with a Sagittarius, but they will choose to take it slow. Ring any bells?
King of the bastards, this dreamy soldier is called Cassian. He is an Illyrian, carrying red Illyrian jewels on his armor called siphons, to help him control his power. Literally, a moving atomic bomb. It is mentioned that he was born in deep winter, so we assume he is a Capricorn. He is stubborn and hard-working—inside and outside the bedchamber—considering all the bullying he went through as a child in the camp. Eventually, his hard work pays off when he becomes Rhys’ captain of the guard! Above all, he is loyal and patient, as it is established in A Court of Silver Flames, him being the only one to believe in Nesta.
Well, well, if Nesta Archeron is not an Aries, then astrology did wrong by humans—fictional at least. Nesta is—literally—burning from the inside. She has an unyielding spirit, and her tongue spits fire! She was nothing but a powerless human when she got her Fae powers from the Cauldron itself. The audacity to point a finger at the King of Hybern… Slay your enemies, queen! As an Aries, she is independent, eruptive, and has a difficult time handling her emotions. She is a leader who inspires her followers—Gwyneth and Emerie can confirm that.
Let’s also take a moment to comment on Cassian and Nesta’s zodiac compatibility. They love to please each other—as we have found out on many occasions in A Court of Silver Flames. Remember when Nesta cracked and ran after him? Or when he said he would give up on her. An Aries loves the thrill of the chase, and a Capricorn is the best player in this game.
Azriel, Rhys’ stunning spymaster, could easily be an Aquarius. He needs time alone to recharge, and he frequently seeks the comfort of his shadows. It appears he is the most emotionally detached member of the Velaris family, but deep down he needs to be loved and appreciated. His little explosion to Rhys in the bonus chapter of Silver Flames is proof enough. His revolutionary side as well as his hidden soft interior is basically all this air sign is about!
What did he get for being the best guy? Plain Elain. Sorry, that was a bad joke. So, Lucien must be a Cancer, as he is sensitive, loyal, caring, intuitive, and protective—not in a Tamlin way. It is not coincidental that Tamlin trusts his opinion. His knowledge of politics is appreciated even by Rhys. Also, his life is surrounded by drama; his “father”, Beron, his loyalty to Tamlin, his cauldron-chosen mate that hates him, the war he tries to prevent—the list goes on. May he find peace one day. We love you, Lucien!
Sweet, Elain… Lucien’s mate—and should remain that way! She must be a Pisces as she is romantic, idealistic, and emotional. Moreover, Pisces is considered to have a psychic kind of ability, and Elain is presumed to be a seer, so… On the other hand, she can be very delusional. Remember her obsession over her human betrothed, Graysen? Oh, how she wept over him. Especially when she has a mate like Lucien! Get it together, Elain.
The most compatible match for a Pisces is a Cancer—obviously! On the other hand, a Pisces woman and an Aquarius man together? Hm, it would be rather unfortunate. Sorry, Az!
Pf! We have to be professional and write something objective—who are we kidding? Tamlin, the High Lord of the Spring Court, is a Taurus, and not in a good way. He is overprotective, stubborn for all the wrong reasons, and guess what? He rarely admits he is wrong. He would die supporting his opinion, however problematic it may be. It is probably immature of us to just maul him, but—in your face, Tampon! We would love to see him having his redemption arc, though, so let’s hope he will finally solve his anger issues and be the decent male we assume he is. Best of luck…
The charming, flirty, and confident Mor is definitely a Leo. She is kind-hearted, brave and will do anything to make her friends happy. She wants to be seen as an unbreakable and fierce spirit, trying to deal with her family’s betrayal. Her cousin, Rhys, always runs his decisions through her, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Her charisma and beauty are radiating, making her the most sexy and attractive female in Prythian—again, our opinion.
Amren, Rhys’ second in command, could very well be a Capricorn. She needs things done, and done correctly. She wants to have control, and she values power. She is straight-forward, not caring if her words are bone-breaking if it is the truth. Besides that, she has a soft spot for the people she considers her family—and Varian. In ACOWAR, she confesses to the prince of Adriata that she might love him. Well, it was about time!
Whoever is shipping Az and Elain, you are kindly dismissed—kidding! Maybe. Gwyn works at the library in Velaris, and she is a priestess, saved by *cough* Azriel, when she was trying to escape Hybern’s soldiers. Besides all the trauma, she is a very optimistic and soft. Her aura is very comforting, considering that she made Nesta trust her. She is a good listener and, between the three Valkyries, she brings balance to the team. She is strong and determined, so, Gwyn’s profile matches that of a Libra.
While we don’t know too many details about Emerie, some in the SJM community claim that she gives off Gemini vibes. And why not? She is very adaptable, has had to change her life multiple times, and has gone through terrible things. She is easy-going, though, with an inviting spirit—again, if she got Nesta to open up to her, we have all the proof we need.
So, are we making a guess for a Leo and Gemini’s compatibility? Hell yes! They share many traits, like being social, creative, and playful. And yes, their chemistry in bed is magnetic. Good for our girls!
Reaching the end of this blog post, it is rather important to highlight that everything is written for fun and fun only. As it is natural, the views presented are subjective, and we have no intention to enrage any fellow ACOTAR or astrology enthusiasts. Except for those who love Tamlin—kidding! Maybe.
