Janet Miriam Holland Taylor Caldwell, born on September 7, 1900 and deceased on August 30, 1985, was a prolific Anglo-American novelist known for her popular fiction. Under various pen names such as Marcus Holland and Max Reiner, and her married name J. Miriam Reback, she authored several well-known books. Among her most recognized works are 'Dynasty of Death,' 'Dear and Glorious Physician' (about Saint Luke), 'Ceremony of the Innocent,' 'Pillar of Iron,' 'The Earth is the Lord's' (about Genghis Khan), and 'Captains and the Kings.' Her final major novel, 'Answer As a Man,' was published in 1980.
