Roald Dahl, born in Wales in 1916 to Norwegian parents, was a fighter pilot during World War Two before beginning his writing career. He is renowned for his children's books, which include classics such as James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr Fox, Matilda, The Witches, and The BFG. Roald Dahl passed away in November 1990.
