Markus Zusak is an internationally bestselling Australian author known for his six novels, including The Book Thief and Bridge of Clay. His books have been translated into over forty languages and have featured on the New York Times bestseller list for more than a decade. Zusak's earlier works include The Underdog, Fighting Rubin Wolfe, When Dogs Cry (also known as Getting the Girl), and The Messenger (or I am the Messenger), all of which have received numerous literary and readers choice awards globally. In 2013, The Book Thief was adapted into a major motion picture. In 2018, the same novel was voted as one of America’s all-time favorite books in the PBS Great American Read, ranking 14th. That year, Bridge of Clay was also recognized as one of the best books of the year by several notable publications including Entertainment Weekly and the Wall Street Journal.
