Margaret Munnerlyn Mitchell was an American author and journalist. She is best known for her novel 'Gone with the Wind,' which won the National Book Award for Most Distinguished Novel of 1936 and the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1997. Posthumously, her earlier writings and a teenage novella, 'Lost Laysen,' were also published. Her articles for The Atlanta Journal have been compiled into a book.
