About
In the year 2083, New York City is a shadow of its former self—chocolate and coffee are illegal, water is rationed, and crime rules the streets. Sixteen-year-old Anya Balanchine, daughter of the city's most notorious (and deceased) crime boss, tries to lead a semblance of a normal life. Balancing school, caring for her younger siblings and dying grandmother, and avoiding her ex-boyfriend is no easy feat.
But when her ex is mysteriously poisoned by the very chocolate her family manufactures, Anya's world is turned upside down. Accused of a crime she didn't commit, she's thrust into the spotlight—hounded by the media, scrutinized at school, and entangled deeper within her mafia family's dark legacy.
Amidst the chaos, she finds herself drawn to the new assistant district attorney's son—a romance that could complicate everything. With the walls closing in, Anya must decide how far she'll go to protect her family and herself. Will she clear her name before it's too late?
