Frances Eliza Hodgson Burnett was an American-English novelist and playwright known for her children's novels Little Lord Fauntleroy, A Little Princess, and The Secret Garden. Born in Cheetham, England, she moved to the United States in 1865 after her father's death. Frances began writing to support her family, leading to a successful literary career. Her works include both children's books and romantic adult novels. Burnett was also involved in producing stage versions of her works. She lived variously in the United States and England, where she wrote some of her most famous books.
