Neil S. Plakcy

I have now read all of this series except the volume of short stories, and each one grabs my interest and my heart. This story involves a suicide from drugs on campus and a mean bookseller killed by drugs. The author really knows how to hold my complete attention. I was very relieved at the end to know there will be a next story in the series. I love the human interest aspects of these books, the interaction and relationships of the characters and the wonderful dogs. Read more

As a long-time fan of the Mahu series, I was hesitant to start these books. I thought there was no way it could be as good and for some reason I got the vibe it was gonna be super smutty (maybe that cover...hello?!). BOY WAS I WRONG!!!!! This book flew by, a complete delight. The characters are relatable and charismatic and their chemistry jumps off the page and stays with you for a long time. The pacing between the action, humor, character development and romance is expertly done. The whole tale has an exciting lightheartedness to it. It feels like a sexier Romancing the Stone! Reading Neil's books is always a great treat. This one is no exception. How is it possible to create fictional characters that become alive in so many ways?
