Playwright & author of laugh-out-loud teacher romances and a twisty historical mystery, full of heart and mischief.
One Night Stands and Lesson Plans follows Audrey Fremont, English teacher with lots of friends but no love life to speak about. She's finally settled in Marchfield, Virginia and has a stable career. Oz Taylor follows his bestie's advice and moves from New York to Virginia to teach Math at the same school she does. When they meet the evening before classes start, the chemistry is undeniable and bad decisions are made, neither one of them aware of the other's occupation. What a fun book! The author created a wonderful world with well-written characters. I love the humor, tension, and dilemmas faced by Audrey and Oz. There's always that one person you work with that causes trouble, and this book has her. There is a fabulous close knit community within the pages of this book. A community I'm happy to be part of vicariously, watching it grow and develop.I was provided a copy of this book.
One Night Stands and Lesson Plans' title caught my interest immediately because I am a retired teacher. The opening chapters were fantastic and as we met the cast of main and supporting characters, I realized that author, M Jayne La Dow understands the school culture with strong friendships that develop between teachers and the impact of supportive colleagues. The icebreakers at the first faculty meeting, the pressure of pleasing the principal and the jammed copy machine had me laughing out loud! As an only child with a father who was in the Marines, I knew the loneliness brought on by moving every two years. I also have ADHD and understood Audrey – the perfect professional at school with a bit of craziness at home. Oz, with his unassuming outward air of confidence was a man who led men in the military who now leads middle school students! He was a treat!I loved the use of the dual POV, moving the reader through the story allowing the reader into the minds of Audrey and Oz. The addition of the songs running through Audrey's mind at certain points was clever. The chemistry was sizzling, and the steam level was perfect! This was my first book by the author, and I am looking forward to reading more books in the series that feature the teachers of Marchfield Middle School!I received an Advanced Reader Copy, and I am leaving a voluntary review based solely on my reading experience.
This is a cute, funny, and sweet romance. The mother reminded me of Emily Gilmore. It's a nice way to spend a rainy day.
A friend recommend this book and I could not put down. I will never look at a teacher without wondering what is going on behind the scenes. Fell in love with Oz and Red at first chapter. M Jayne LaDow makes me want to be a teacher. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
The third installment of the Marchfield Middle series is out! Pop Quizzes and Stolen Kisses is an excellent addition to this series. This is probably my favorite novel so far by M Jayne LaDow. Her sharp wit and humor shines through in this book. Our protagonists are flawed, but lovable. You end up rooting for them throughout the whole book. This is a series not to be missed! I can’t wait for her next novel? Which teacher is up next for a spicy romance?
M. Jayne LaDow’s newest novel, Pop Quizzes and Stolen Kisses is a delightful read about two teachers who are very professional at work, but enjoy a steamy romance when they are not in class. Each chapter opens with a fun pop quiz, which is appropriate because the two main characters are trivia buffs as well as teachers. Rachel Bright teaches English and participates in pub quizzes in her spare time. Keith Payt is a Special Education teacher at the same school. The chapters alternate between these two characters as they try to navigate the challenges of working together and stumbling into love along the way.
I may or may not have stayed up until 2:20 am reading/finishing your book 2. Seriously I cried, I laughed, I gasped, I fantasized... It had Fantastic ending! I absolutely loved book two. Fantastic job my friend. Thanks for writing a romance genre I can relate to. If you're an educator or romance novel enthusiast this book is for you. The characters are so realistic. These things make me look around the corner at school for tell tale signs of these things happening. Love this story and recommended it to YOU! Grab a copy today.
I love this book, this new little series, and this author M. Jayne LaDow! Learning Goals and Dancing Poles is hilarious and sexy! Yes, it has both! I love Val, and I love Evan even more! A true modern day knight in shining armor who always has Val’s back. You will be rooting for them the whole way through! Order your copy today and enjoy!
This story has everything a teacher could ask for: romance, comedy, friendly and snarky co-workers with some spicy sexual tension thrown in for good measure and this was just in the first 30 minutes of the first day of teacher back to school days. I didn't even mention the teacher Happy Hour the previous day. Oh, My! So, where does the story go from this auspicious beginning? It is time to spend thes best few hours of summer Grab a cold drink, your lawn chair, and enjoy this book while you enjoy the summer weather. Which one is hotter: the temperature or the story between the sheets?
Another terrific book in Jayne LaDow's Marchfield Middle Series! Learning Goals and Dancing Poles introduces the reader to Val and Evan, who teach at Marchfield Middle School. Evan is new to the school and to the town. Val has been teaching for a few years and has a solid circle of friends at school. They are assigned to work together at a school carnival booth and their first encounter is one of the best meet - cute I have read! Of course they teach at the same school but they haven't had any kind of meaningful interaction which is totally realistic!LaDow excels at writing witty characters who have sharp senses of humor. Learning Goals and Dancing Poles was an easy to read and Val and Evan were characters that could get behind a cheer for. Val has a complicated family issue and Evan is the kind of man who is ready to step in to help a friend. The fake dating /he falls first trope fits perfectly based on their personalities. Well done, and I am hoping Keith and Rachel are in her next book of the series!I received and advance readers copy and am leaving a voluntary review based solely on my reading experience.
