Jules Radcliffe

Methinks kings be the true beasts of prey, lounging at court in soft red purchased of armies' blood. Got that out of my system now, I'll talk like an American. The language in this book is more catchy than drawl at a Texas barbeque. And I'll bet it's accurate in every respect. It is rather entertaining. Now the manly tail, I mean, this manly tale, is romantic enough to make a little girl swoon, yet real enough to make a man stand up and take notice. Rain must fall in every love story. Tears water the blossoms of a happy ending. Will there be one? People are people, and love is love. This story has strong heart as well as very spicy times. All can experience the power of these emotions, knowing the beauty of passion within yet another color of our rainbow. True men loving true men. And I mean, truly loving. A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Now imagine getting to be with that closest friend in every way. For sooth, it's that good. Bravo, Jules Radcliffe, hail fellow and well met!

Geez, I wish this had been published before "The Puritan Pirate"--but I am not complaining. This perfect prequel to that spectacular romp does introduce us to Quinn and Perry, and in a very proper way for their subsequent narrative.

But this one is all Job and Garrett, and what a truly heart warming, and heart rendering (at times) this novella turns out to be. I simply cannot improve on the plot outline in the book's blurb.

But I can tell you that this is a coupling that will make you cry tears of joy, eventually, while Job goes through a series of frightening experiences because he is young and pretty and susceptible and compliant and terrified. As for Garrett, if there was a pirate like him he would have been worthy of commanding a fleet.

Hope we get to meet them again in their future.

I have read and reread all of Jules' pirate books, and I have to say this one is the ultimate.

Job's past shaped his harsh world view, but did not make him a coward. With gentle guidance from Garrett, Job becomes his own man.

This is a short story that takes off and doesn't stop--it just keeps winding into a startling orbit of want, need, eroticism and completely wild sex. This is about rural mid-19th century life in the Northeast--Vermont, specifically--and it's a prelude to "A Summer's Pursuit," one of the most extraordinary M/M historical romances you will ever read.

This one is about 19-year-old Ashton discovering his sexual identity, and needs, after his sexual playmate Robbie gets a girl in trouble and has to marry her--but wants Ashton to keep servicing him. No way will strong, beautiful, sensuous Ash succumb to that tease. In his despair he stumbles upon a neighboring farm where the owners, Dougal and Seth, are fierce lovers--which they cheekily reveal to him in a wonderfully erotic segue to some of the wildest, and most deeply felt, three-way entanglements you will read in any M/M romance, in any era, in any milieu.

That the novella ends with Ash somewhat on his way to many other encounters only compels you to get to the full fledged novel which follows. Wow.

I got this free from Smashwords.
I read the Winter Trail, and wanted to read this one as it's about Ash from that book. From the start, this was a great story. The tension at the beginning drew me in straight away, and held my attention right to the end. While I had a slight preference for Jake in the Winter Trail, Ash really got to shine in this story and I love him even more now. As usual for this writer, the sex was really hot, and the characters were very well developed, especially considering the length of the story.
Robbie, the best friend who stabs Ash in the back, was so well done, the kind of character you love to hate. The more I read about him, the more I was ready to bitch-slap him on Ash's behalf.
I hope Jules Radcliffe does a story about Seth and Dougal, because I want to know more about them! This was really a 4 1/2 stars, but I upped it to five. Highly recommended!

All three male characters are yummy, but mix them together and they are ambrosia.

Jules Radcliffe spun a perfect story for a lazy summer day. Prequel to A Summer Pursuit, it gets the imagination stirred up and ready for Ash’s next story.

I’m ready for more, Jules!

The heat is scalding, not so well hidden. The character development is superb. I'm already invested in these people. Now I have to wait for the next in the series to come out. It's a great day in KindleLand when that's my only complaint. Real human beings, the kind and the cruel, the wise and the foolish. I'm hoping I'll know which are which. Some are certainly worthy of hanging. For some, I'm unsure. Villainous saints, saintly villains? I can't wait to find out. Jules Radcliffe, you are a master story teller.
